My name is Angela Crespin. I was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I’m a lover of New Mexican food, creative cooking extraordinaire, closet vegetarian and the creative director/face of “Red or Green?”, a popular YouTube channel featuring New Mexican cuisine. YouTube has given me the opportunity to share my culture and traditions through simple and accessible recipes.
From a young age, I was in the kitchen with my mom and dad teaching me their recipes. When I began I was simply curious, but this time spent with them quickly sprouted into a love of creating and learning about our traditions — especially food. With a lot of trial and error, I developed my own flair and comfort in the kitchen along with an deeper knowledge of cooking principles.
Although having a cooking channel was something I talked about for years, it wasn’t until the summer of 2020 that I began to take action towards this dream of mine. I began sharing some ideas about the channel with my daughter — an aspiring videographer — and together we launched the channel in May 2020. Before we knew it, we were creating videos once a week and loving every minute of it!
Both my daughter and I have full time jobs outside of the YouTube channel, but each week we find time to create and share videos with our growing number of subscribers (we just reached 2K!). My hope is that we can continue to grow and learn in this adventure! The support for “Red or Green?” has been more than we ever could have imagined.
You will find “Red or Green?” has many traditional New Mexican meals, as well as some fusion recipes. Our goal is to inspire people to learn about NM food, try our recipes and share them with their loved ones. My inspiration comes from my deep love for cooking and creating healthy meals. As my subscribers know, I will recreate my native food to include more vegetables and a little less fat to my taste.
I hope you enjoy the channel, try our recipes and share them with your family and friends!
