Frito Pies with Ground Turkey
Frito Pies with Ground Turkey
Red or Green? It's thought that the true Frito Pie originated in the 1960's with Teresa Hernández; she worked at the Woolworths Lunch Counter in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her Frito Pie had homemade red chile con carne, cheddar cheese and onions; it was served straight in the bag! Over the years, New Mexicans have added frijoles and other yummy toppings. For this recipe, we use ground turkey -- but this recipe is extremely versatile! These Frito Pies are so quick & easy, you're gonna love them!
