HOMEMADE APPLE FRITTERS: Easy to Make and So Delicious/Fall Recipe

Ingredients
For the fritters:
- 2 Apples, peeled and chopped
- 2 tbsp Unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp Sugar
- 1 ½ cups All-purpose flour
- 2 tsp Baking powder
- 1 ½ tsp Cinnamon
- ⅛ tsp Nutmeg
- ½ tsp Salt
- ¼ cup Sugar
- ⅓ cup Milk
- 2 Eggs
- 2 cups Vegetable oil (for frying)
For the glaze:
- 2 cups Powdered sugar (sifted)
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
- 4 tbsp Milk (as needed)
Instructions
- Melt butter in large skillet over medium high heat, add in chopped apples, and let cook approx. 8 minutes.
- (Par-cooking the apples ensures they will be softer, but this step is optional.)
- Let them cool and remove any liquid.
- In large mixing bowl, mix together all dry ingredients.
- Add in wet ingredients and mix to combine.
- Once you have a consistent sticky batter, add in the apples and combine.
- Heat oil in deep pot to 350º-375º (If you don't have a thermometer, take a little piece of batter and drop it in the oil.If it floats to the top, your oil is hot enough.)
- Drop dough into hot oil by large spoonfuls.
- Let it fry approx. 2 minutes on one side before flipping it over and letting it fry another 2 minutes on the other side.
- Dough should be a dark golden brown color.
- Place on paper towel-lined rack or plate to allow excess oil to drain.
- In small separate bowl, mix together powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk.
- (Add milk a little at a time because you may want need it all.)
- Mix until smooth.
- Dip fried apple fritters into glaze and let stand on rack until dry.
- Then enjoy!
