Spicy Air Fryer Fried Chicken
Marcy InspiredAfter eating at Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken in Memphis, it was love at first bite. So, I tried out a couple of copycat recipes, tweaked them a bit, and then decided to make Spicy Fried Chicken in an Air Fryer. I must say I was pretty happy with the results. It came out crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and it definitely had that spicy kick. Read on for the easy and delicious recipe.

Ingredients
- 4-8 pieces chicken
- 2 cups (approx.) Buttermilk
- 1 ½ cups Self-rising Flour
- 2 tsp. Paprika
- 2 tsp. Salt
- 2 tsp. Garlic Salt
- 2 tsp. Onion Powder
- 1 tsp. Cayenne Pepper
- 1 tsp. Black Pepper Freshly ground
- 8-10 dashes Hot Sauce
- Peanut Oil For frying (Preferably in spray can)
Instructions
- Rinse chicken and pat dry with paper towels.
- Place into large bowl and add enough buttermilk to fully cover the chicken.
- Add 8-10 dashes of hot sauce and work into chicken.
- Cover bowl and set in refrigerator to marinate for a minimum of 2 hours.
- Once chicken has marinated, preheat air fryer to 350º.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all dry ingredients.
- Dip individual pieces of chicken into flour mixture making sure all sides are covered in flour and seasoning.
- Spray with peanut oil and place in air fryer with oiled side down.
- Spray oil on top side and let cook at 350º for 15 minutes.
- Turn chicken over, and let it cook another 10-15 minutes, until done.
