THANKSGIVING TURKEY TUXEDO
THANKSGIVING TURKEY TUXEDO
Marcy InspiredWe all have our Thanksgiving recipes and traditions, but this Turkey Tuxedo has to be one of my favorites, and it's a fun idea for Thanksgiving . Believe it or not, my mom and I have been dressing our Thanksgiving turkey in a tuxedo made out of dough since 1978! Although, to be fair, we don’t do it every single year; only when the entire family is able to be together. But, my mom was kind enough to come to Arizona from New Mexico to join me for this video in advance of the holiday. I thought it might give you a little inspiration.

Ingredients
- Turkey
- 2 cups All-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup Butter or shortening
- 1 tsp. Salt
- Ice water
- 2 Egg yolks
- 1 tbsp. Water or milk For the egg wash, you will whisk together two egg yolks and 1 Tbsp. water or milk
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, mix together flour and salt.
- Cut in butter or shortening.
- Incorporate into the dough using a pastry blender or fork.
- Begin adding ice water a few tablespoons at a time and mix together until dough is easy to work with.
- Form a ball, wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate a few hours or overnight before using.
- Prepare your turkey as you normally would, when there are about 15 minutes of cooking time left, take the bird out of the oven.
- Lightly flour a flat surface and roll out your dough with a rolling pin.
- Cut out vest, pin-stripes, bowtie, buttons, and cufflinks from the dough and place them on the turkey.
- Use egg wash as glue to hold pieces together.
- Then cover the entire tuxedo in egg wash using a brush.
- Place turkey back in the oven and leave just enough for the dough to turn a golden brown.
- As adorable as it looks, I forgot to mention, it tastes really delicious, too!
