Marcy Inspired
If you’ve got an abundance of apples, this easy Homemade Apple Butter recipe by Marcy Inspired is just what you need. In her video, Marcy walks you through a simple process for making rich, flavorful apple butter at home. You can choose to peel the apples or leave the skins on—leaving them on results in a thicker texture, while peeling gives a smoother finish. After testing both, Marcy prefers peeled apples, but either method works beautifully. Perfect for spreading on toast, biscuits, or adding to your fall recipes!

Ingredients

  • 6 cups of apples cored & cut into 1-2" pieces

You can use any type of apple you like: granny smith, fuji, & golden delicious are best for apple butter. You can even mix varieties.

  • 1 cup apple juice or water
  • ½ cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 cup sugar Note: I used ¾ cup because I felt it was a little too sweet
  • 1 tbsp. cinnamon
  • ½ tsp. cloves
  • ¼ tsp. all spice
  • ¼ tsp. nutmeg

Instructions

  • Peel (if you choose), remove core, and cut apples into 1-2" pieces. Place in saucepan with 1 cup of apple juice or water.
  • Set burner to high heat and let it come to a boil. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 20-30 minutes until apples can easily be smashed with a fork.
  • Pureé with an immersion blender, or tranfer apples into blender or food processor and pureé until smooth.
  • Add in brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, cloves, all spice, and nutmeg and mix until well combined. (If you used a blender or food processor, transfer pureé back into saucepan.)
  • Cover with lid and let simmer another 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove from heat and let cool. Store in air tight containers and keep refrigerated.
