- No cooking required
- Only a handful of ingredients
- Great for parties and meal prep
Serving Ideas
These dips work well with almost anything, which is why they’re perfect for parties or last-minute snacking. You can serve them with classic tortilla chips, warm tostadas, or fresh-cut veggies if you want something lighter. They’re great spooned onto tacos, burrito bowls, nachos, or quesadillas. You can also use them as spreads for sandwiches, wraps, or breakfast burritos. If you’re hosting a crowd, serve all three together as a mini dip trio so guests can mix and match flavors.Make-Ahead & Storage Instructions
These dips store differently because of their ingredients, so keeping them fresh requires a little attention.- Salsa: Keeps well for 3–4 days in the refrigerator. Store it in an airtight container. The flavors actually improve after a few hours. Stir before serving.
- Green Chile Dip: Stays fresh for 2–3 days when chilled in a sealed container. The yogurt base thickens slightly but tastes even better the next day.
- Guacamole: Best eaten the same day, but will last up to 24 hours. To slow browning, add extra lime juice and press plastic wrap directly on the surface of the guacamole before sealing the container.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Are these dips gluten-free?
Yes. All three dips—salsa, green chile dip, and guacamole—are naturally gluten-free. Just make sure any store-bought chips or tostadas you serve them with are labeled gluten-free.2. Can I make these dips spicy or mild?
Absolutely. For a milder version, remove the seeds and membranes from the serrano peppers or replace them with jalapeños. For more heat, leave the seeds in or add a dash of cayenne or extra green chile.3. Can I use canned tomatoes for the salsa?
Yes, canned tomatoes work well, especially when fresh tomatoes aren’t in season. Choose diced tomatoes without added herbs for the cleanest flavor.4. Can I use canned green chiles for the dip?
Yes. Canned chopped green chile works perfectly, and it’s convenient. If you prefer a smokier or deeper flavor, roasted fresh green chile is even better.5. How do I keep guacamole from turning brown?
Use lime juice and make sure the guacamole is covered tightly. Press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole before sealing the container. This blocks air—the main cause of browning.6. Can I make these dips ahead of time?
Yes. Salsa and green chile dip taste great after chilling. For guacamole, prep ingredients ahead but mix everything right before serving for the best color and texture. You might also enjoy these related recipes:
